San Francisco, California - 2016
My journey started in summer 2016. I flied to California, USA in July and stayed in a small beautiful town called Orinda by my host family for one month.
Even before I have arrived, me and my family contacted the American family that I was going to visit through Skype, so I knew where I was going and who I was going to meet.
The flight was long, but just fine and I landed in San Francisco airport where my host family has been already waiting for me, so we drove together to their home in Orinda which was nearby San Francisco. By the host family I had everything I could have imagined - my own space, free time, many indoor and outdoor activities and, of course, soccer practices. I trained soccer 5 times a week and I really enjoyed it. The practices were challenging, but also very interesting and fun. Besides, I trained with a girl team that was really supportive and kind to me, so I had not only the opportunity to play soccer, but also to make a lot of new friendships with girls and boys of my age which I think was for me and my English very efficient! However, it was not all about the soccer training. Every weekend we had organised trips to new places with a lot of different activities.
As the important part of this program was education, I have learned a lot about USA as a country, culture, schools and colleges, visited many interesting and beautiful places and met so many incredible young people who have helped me get to know a world so different from mine! All in all, I consider my american adventure an unforgettable experience and would definitely recommend anybody who gets a chance like this one to go and take it!!
